Bråkmakargatan
Grades 4 - 6
In Bråkmakargatan, the students meet with their online instructor once a week. During the meetings, there is live discussion and a steady stream of communication, making sure the spoken word is presented in a safe environment where we learn Swedish in a fun way.
This group meets online on Thursdays at 6:00PM ET
Monthly Modules
Bråkmakargatan, the program will have a weekly theme, so your child will have something new to anticipate each coming week. These themes will be age-appropriate. Acting as language detectives, the students will continue to be introduced to different environments, looking for clues to navigate the situation, learning grammar, and expanding their vocabulary in a fun and challenging way.
Textbooks
In Bråkmakargatan, we use the “Klara Svenskan 1—6” series as our grammar text and workbooks. We will also read and discuss other texts. To make it fun and inclusive, the group will have a say in what themes we draw from.
Independent work
All lessons will have independent work for the students to work on between the weekly virtual classes.
Videos
Each lesson also has activity videos for the students, which can be used to learn more Swedish between the virtual meetings. These include learning new vocabulary, understanding Swedish culture, and more. We pull materials from, for example, UR or SVTplay and other sources on the web.
Supporting you
Giving your own language to your child is one of the best gifts you can give your child. From the effects it has on their brain, from the cradle to the grave, to the gift of being fluent in multiple cultures, we need to talk more about it.
