Lejonhjärta
Grades 7 - 9
In Lejonhjärta, the students meet with their online instructor once a week. During the meetings, there is live discussion and a steady stream of communication, making sure the spoken word is presented in a safe environment where we learn the Swedish language and culture.
This group meets online on Wednesdays at 8:00PM ET
Monthly Modules
In Lejonhjärta, we will choose a Swedish book/film/series by a Swedish author taking place in Sweden. The students will practice discussing the themes and situations in the material in an engaged and safe way as they learn grammar, expand their vocabulary, and learn about Swedish culture. Depending on the group, we can choose different books or films where the students can practice presenting the material to each other.
Textbooks
In Lejonhjärta, we use the “Klara Svenskan 7—9” series as our grammar text and workbooks.
Independent work
All lessons will have independent work for the students to work on in between the weekly virtual classes.
Videos
Each lesson also has activity videos for the students, which can be used to learn more Swedish between the virtual meetings. These include learning new vocabulary, understanding Swedish culture, and more. We pull materials from, for example, UR or SVTplay and other sources on the web.
Supporting you
Giving your own language to your child is one of the best gifts you can give your child. From the effects it has on their brain, from the cradle to the grave, to the gift of being fluent in multiple cultures, we need to talk more about it.
With the course you also get the book ‘Flerspråkiga barn i familjen’ for you to learn more about multilingualism.
